Lori Munz

Lori Munz a story of courage and determination, of overcoming adversity,  a search of inner strength, a desire to achieve, and learning to assess and reassess goals!

The dream of becoming an Olympian seemed so close, Lori could feel it, taste it! Swimming in World Championships, world short Course Championships, World Cups, Pan Pacific Championships, and Commonwealth Games. Numerous Gold, Silver and Bronze Medals, Australian Records and Commonwealth Records. The Olympic Dream, Sydney Olympics, every athletes Dream!

However, unforeseen circumstances occurred when Lori was involved in a serious car accident on the South Coast of NSW, just a little over 8 weeks before the Olympic Trials about to be held in Sydney!

Lori sustained numerous serious injuries as a result of the accident. After being trapped inside the wreckage, Lori was removed by specialised equipment and transferred to hospital where the full extent of the injuries sustained were revealed! Head, chest, and abdominal injuries! Topped off by both knees being smashed and in numerous pieces. Specialist Doctors informing Lori that she will never swim again and the fact that these injuries requires a long road to recovery.

Lori Munz, The road to compete at the trials, the Olympics, life after Sydney 2000, retirement, and then setting goals to live her dream job!

An inspirational story of determination, self belief, goal setting, and a desire to succeed.
